현대자동차가 지난해 출시한 '스타리아'가 세계 3대 디자인상에서 최고상의 영예를 안았다. 현대자동차그룹은 독일 노르트라인 베스트팔렌 디자인센터(Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen)가 주관하는 '2022 레드 닷 어워드(2022 Red Dot Award): 제품 디자인' 에서 최우수상(Best of the Best) 3개와 본상(Winner) 2개를 수상했다고 29일 밝혔다.
수상의 주인공은 2021년에 출시한 MPV(다목적 차량, Multi-Purpose Vehicle) 모델인 '스타리아'로 '자동차 및 오토바이(Car & Motorcycle)' 부문에서 최우수상(Best of the Best)을 받았다. 최우수상은 레드 닷 어워드의 제품 디자인 분야에서 가장 영예로운 상이다.
현대차의 미래 모빌리티 디자인 테마 '인사이드 아웃'을 최초로 적용한 스타리아는 우주선을 연상시키는 외관과 넓은 실내공간 및 개방감이 조화를 이뤄 사용자 중심의 감성적 공간을 구현해낸 것이 특징이다.
제네시스 브랜드 최초의 전용 전기차 모델인 GV60도 레드 닷 어워드 제품 디자인 분야에서 본상을 수상했다.
레드 닷 어워드(Red Dot Award)는 iF 디자인상, IDEA 디자인상과 함께 세계 3대 디자인상 중 하나로 매년 제품 디자인(Product Design), 브랜드·커뮤니케이션 디자인(Brand & Communication Design), 디자인 콘셉트(Design Concept) 등 3개 분야로 나눠 각 부문별 수상작을 발표하고 있다. 이번에 발표된 수상작들은 제품 디자인 분야에 해당한다.
