경기도 파주시 임진강에서 북한군으로 추정되는 시신이 발견돼 관계 당국이 조사하고 있다.

1일 경기 파주경찰서에 따르면 지난달 31일 오후 6시 25분께 파주시 장단면 임진강 철교 인근에서 군 영상감시병이 20~30대 남성으로 추정되는 시신 한 구를 발견했다.
군 당국은 시신이 우리 군 소속이 아닌 것으로 판단해 시신을 경찰에 인계했다. 경찰은 시신의 부패 상태로 봤을 때 사망한 지 최소 2주가 지났고, 최근 폭우로 떠내려 왔을 가능성이 큰 것으로 보고 있다.
경찰은 또한 시신의 지문이 국내에 등록돼 있지 않은 점, 복장이 일반적이지 않은 점 등으로 미뤄 북한군일 가능성이 무게를 두고 시신 처리 절차를 검토 중이다.
시신은 발견 당시 낡은 운동복으로 보이는 상의에 군복으로 보이는 하의를 입고 있었고, 벨트 버클 가운데에는 큰 별 문양이 있었던 것으로 알려졌다.
