양주시는 오는 5월 5~7일까지 회암사지 일원에서 '2023 양주 회암사지 왕실축제'를 연다.

이번 축제는 조선시대로의 시간여행을 하는 왕실체험을 비롯해 어린이날과 연계한 맞춤형 체험활동 프로그램으로 '치유의 궁, 다시 조선의 문을 열다'라는 체험형 콘텐츠를 선보인다.

시 승격 20주년에 맞춰 진행되는 이번 축제는 '태조 이성계의 어가행렬'이 옥정지구 시가지를 지나는 등 양주의 과거와 현재가 공존하는 모습을 연출하게 된다.

부대행사로는 창작뮤지컬 '하늘을 받들다', 회암사 문화재 퀴즈대회 '청동금탁을 울려라', 창작 연극 '영웅 불패'를 비롯해 시간의 문, 이성계의 병영체험, 저잣거리 체험, 고고학 체험 등이 마련된다.

강수현 시장은 "태조 이성계의 마음의 안식처 회암사지에서 코로나19로 지친 시민들의 마음이 치유될 수 있게 행사를 준비하고 있다"고 설명했다.
