28일 오전 대구와 경북 경산, 경남 밀양 등 영남 지역 곳곳에 보기 드문 두루마리 형태의 구름이 나타나 눈길을 끌었다.

'두루마리 구름'은 층적운의 한 형태로 긴 구름이 꼬아져 감긴 것 같은 형태로 나타난다. 이 구름은 보통 지표~2km 사이 높이에서 나타난다.

두루마리 구름은 강한 기류가 산맥을 넘는 과정에서 지형적 요인이 더해져 발생한다.
대구기상지청은 동해로 빠져나가지 못한 저기압이 북서쪽의 차고 건조한 기단과 만나며 독특한 모양의 구름이 만들어졌다고 설명했다.
