제74주년 광복절을 맞아 보신각에서 광복절 기념 타종행사가 열렸다. 이날 행사에는 일본군 위안부 피해자인 이옥선 할머니도 참여했다.

15일 서울 종로구 보신각에서 광복 74주년 기념 타종행사가 진행됐다. 올해 타종행사에는 박원순 서울시장을 비롯해 올해의 타종 인사로 선정된 독립유공자 후손, 일본군 위안부 피해자 등 14명이 참여했다. 특히 이번 타종 인사에는 위안부 피해자 문제해결을 위해 앞장선 이옥선 할머니도 포함됐다.
더불어 21년째 '독도는 한국 땅'을 주장하며 한국역사 왜곡시정을 위해 앞장선 호사카 유지 세종대 독도종합연구소장, 2019 20세 이하 월드컵에서 준우승을 차지한 우리나라 축구 대표팀의 정정용 감독, 7년째 평화의 소녀상을 지켜온 플루트 소녀 변미솔 등도 타종행사에 참여했다.

광복절 기념 보신각 타종은 일제강점기 독립운동에 헌신한 독립유공자들의 숭고한 애국정신을 기리기 위한 행사로, 3개조로 나눠 각각 11번씩 모두 33번의 광복절 기념 타종을 한다.
